Putting the "Multi" in Multi-Sport

MM's Jaime Pollitte checks in as the first Mexico Mulit-Sport Adventure comes to a close. What a great way to discover Mexico!

Debut Mexico Multi-Sport Adventure!

On November 9, Mountain Madness launched it's first Mexico Multi-Sport Adventure with Hector Ponce De Leon, one of Mexico's most famous mountaineers, as lead guide for the trip.  The first half of the trip would begin with attemps on on the volcanoes of Iztaccihuatl (17,154 feet / 5239 meters) and the Orizaba (18,404 feet / 5612 meters). Success in Mexico and Ecuador!

After several weeks of gnarly La NiƱa weather, Mountain Madness climbers were able to summit Cotopaxi! Guide Sebastian Carrasco led 5 clients on what he called "the best summit on Cotopaxi ever!!" Conditions on the mountain have turned many groups away so far this year, but Sebastian's group benefited from a clear, cold night before their summit attempt, giving them packed snow for easy travel and stunning views of the surrounding volcanoes. Madness Team Summits Orizaba!

Congratulations to Gavin, Robert, and Sabina, who all summitted the Mexican Volcano Orizaba, despite challenging weather conditions, including more snow than the locals have seen since the 1990s. Richard, Tony, and Lauren all set personal high altitude records, too!
