Mount Baker Coleman Deming Glacier

A Beginner Summit Climb

Referred to as Koma Kulshan, or the Great White Watcher,” by the Lummi Indians, Mount Baker is the highest and most heavily glaciated peak in the North Cascades. It offers an interesting ascent for beginner-intermediate climbers on one of North America’s most sought after peaks. Along with the Easton Glacier, the Coleman-Deming Glacier is one of the standard” routes up the mountain. Spectacular views of the steep north face of Baker and north into Canada, as well as west into the San Juan Islands await those who make this climb.
