Mexico Volcanoes — success on Orizaba and Ixtza

Late October found a small MM team on North America’s third and seventh highest peaks. Great weather, good eats, and successful summit climbs made for a great trip. MM climber Ben R. sent in some photos and a summary of the trip.

I really enjoyed the Mexico Volcanoes trip, which combined climbing two fantastic high mountains, with some great sightseeing of Mexico City, Teotihuacán, Amecameca, Puebla, and Tlachichuca each of which has their own character.

The Mexican Mountain Madness guides looked after us superbly from the moment we touched down in Mexico they were always willing to help and answer any questions we had. Seeing Mexico in the company of locals is simply the best way to see the country. We were lucky enough to be led on this trip by Hector Ponce de Leon, a famous Mexican mountaineer with impressive climbing record. Not only, did keep us safe on the mountain, but he kept us wowed with stories from all the various climbing expeditions he has done. This was a safe, hassle-free, worry-free, trip that I would strongly recommend.”
