Everest Trekkers Dwarfed By The Khumbu Icefall

The precarious Khumbu Icefall is a moving river of ice that shifts and changes every year. Everest climbers must cross this most dangerous obstacle each time they ascend from Base Camp.

Trekkers on the Everest Base Camp Trek enjoyed some up close and personal time with the legendary place.

Imagine wearing full climbing gear, a pack, heavy boots, and crampons…then walking on an aluminum ladder laid across a deadly crevasse in the ice. We ventured down to the very bottom edge of the Icefall to get some perspective, and this video shows that even at the small end of the fall, we are dwarfed by the mountains of ice.
