Ecuador Volcanoes Expedtion makes it to within a few hundred meters of Cayambe!

MM guide, Gas­par Navar­rete called in to report our team made it so close to the sum­mit of Cayambe, but high winds kept them just short of reach­ing the sum­mit. Snow and weath­er con­di­tions were great oth­er­wise and they hope for less winds when they attempt Cotopaxi next. This is our last Vol­ca­noes Expe­di­tion until Novem­ber when the sea­son starts up again.

Oscar Amador sent us a few pho­tos and report­ed that despite the winds and no sum­mit, that the views were incred­i­ble and it was a great climb. He told us, ​“Cayambe was CRAZY!” Over­all though the climb­ing con­di­tions are good, report­ed Gas­par. So, wish the team luck for the remain­ing two climbs of Cotoapxi and Chimborazo.

The trip start­ed a fews days ear­li­er with some acclima­ti­za­tion hikes and some fine din­ing. Of Hacien­da Pin­saqui where all our groups stay pri­or to Caymabe, Oscar tells us he, ​“would like to go back for a sec­ond hon­ey­moon!” Ay caramba!
