Ecuador Volcanoes Expedtion makes it to within a few hundred meters of Cayambe!

MM guide, Gaspar Navarrete called in to report our team made it so close to the summit of Cayambe, but high winds kept them just short of reaching the summit. Snow and weather conditions were great otherwise and they hope for less winds when they attempt Cotopaxi next. This is our last Volcanoes Expedition until November when the season starts up again.

Oscar Amador sent us a few photos and reported that despite the winds and no summit, that the views were incredible and it was a great climb. He told us, Cayambe was CRAZY!” Overall though the climbing conditions are good, reported Gaspar. So, wish the team luck for the remaining two climbs of Cotoapxi and Chimborazo.

The trip started a fews days earlier with some acclimatization hikes and some fine dining. Of Hacienda Pinsaqui where all our groups stay prior to Caymabe, Oscar tells us he, would like to go back for a second honeymoon!” Ay caramba!

Stay tuned for Cotopaxi report.
