Dispatch #1

Antisana expedition- click here for trip details

Amber Laree de Freire reporting for guide Ossy Freire: At 8:15 this morning Ossy, Hunter and Andy made their first summit during their Ecuadorian Mountain climbing odyssey. The three climbers were basking in the Equatorial sun on the top of Illiniza Norte. No slackers here-they made record time- reaching the Cumbre” in one hour and 55 minutes.

They are all in great form and even better spirits. The weather has been fabulous for mountaineers these past few months (sadly not so fabulous for our very thirsty countryside…) We have had very little rain so there are generally great conditions all the way around. This bodes well for continued climbing success along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. The boys are on their way down now to relax in the refuge and prepare to take a stab at Illiniza Sur- Norte’s glacier-covered twin sister in the wee hours tomorrow. Tune in tomorrow for the latest edition of … Ecuador’s Next Top Climbers”
