Ama Dablam Expedition 11/16/08 dispatch

Seth here from Ama Dablam to give you the weekend update! On the 15th we had a nice long rest day after having a big day on the 14th. It was a pure rest day-we spent our time reading, napping, listening to music, and playing with a traction kite-which is a training kite for kite skiing-with our Sherpa crew. There was lots of laughing and fun had by all.

Today was a mellow morning. The team had a big breakfast and drank a lot of coffee! We also took showers. We had to fix the water pump and put a new heating system in so we could all have a hot shower! Well, Miguel and I each had a hot shower…for some reason Mark always gets stuck with a cold shower-it’s becoming an entertaining topic among the group!

Tonight we spent time organizing for our summit push talking strategy with the other teams around camp. Tomorrow morning we will move to Camp 1! It will be a big day, with just under 4,000 feet of elevation gain on a long arduous trail. We are lucky to have most of our heavy climbing equipment at Camp 1 already, so this trip will be a bit lighter.

Now the team is getting ready to hit the hay after a long rest day. I am freezing cold right now because the sky is really clear! We are off to bed. Over and out!
