Experiencing Quito

Madness guide Juliana Garcia reports that she and climbers Lauren & Samuel are enjoying Quito and the surrounding areas while acclimatizing for climbs of Cayambe and Chimborazo. They've witnessed the famous Últimas Noticias 15km race, eaten lunch at the La casa de Rafa Cave - in darkness! - and hiked Ilalo Hill. Great weather, great hikes, and great food; what's not to like?

There is still an opportunity to join MM in February for a school or summit climbs if you already have expereince. Then things simmer down a bit during the rainy season and start back up again in late May or early June. Stay tuned for an update for the team in the meantime!

Exceptional weather to kick off Ecuador season

The winter Ecuador climbing season was kicked off with a Mountain Madness expedition of Antisana and Illiniza Sur. For those of you who have climbed in Ecuador before, you may have experienced cloudy and stormy conditions on the Ecuadorian volcanoes. However, this team was lucky enough to have views of the avenue of volcanoes from the summit of Illniza Sur and Norte! The clients were strong on both climbs and blown away by the beauty of the region.
