Exceeding Expectations on Orizaba Express

Climber Josh Collman wrote to tell us about his experience on Pico de Orizaba earlier this month:On December 6th, I arrived in Mexico City for my first high altitude expedition. The Orizaba Express trip was chosen to see how I can handle altitudes higher than what is offered in the lower 48 states. Success and luxury in the heart of Mexico

Mountain Madness just wrapped up its second trip to Mexico for 2014 with it's "Orizaba Express" trip, a fast track to the top of North America's 3rd highest peak at 5,700 meters or 18,700 feet.  The week long trip began with a night in Mexico City 7,384 ft 2,250 m and continued with a visit to Teotihuacan, one of the most architecturally significant Mesoamerican sites in the Americas. Mexico climbing season is underway and Mountain Madness is rockin' south of the border!

Our first 9-day Mexico Volcanoes Expedition of the season just returned from a very successful trip. Every one of our climbers summited both the 7th (Iztaccihuatl, 17,134 ft.) and the 3rd (Orizaba, 18, 491 ft) highest peaks in North America!  Conditions on the peaks were great, as was the weather!

Putting the "Multi" in Multi-Sport

MM's Jaime Pollitte checks in as the first Mexico Mulit-Sport Adventure comes to a close. What a great way to discover Mexico!

Debut Mexico Multi-Sport Adventure!

On November 9, Mountain Madness launched it's first Mexico Multi-Sport Adventure with Hector Ponce De Leon, one of Mexico's most famous mountaineers, as lead guide for the trip.  The first half of the trip would begin with attemps on on the volcanoes of Iztaccihuatl (17,154 feet / 5239 meters) and the Orizaba (18,404 feet / 5612 meters).
