Highlights of The Italian Dolomites

Since the beginning, Mountain Madness has strived to provide personalized care for our guests.  As a result, we provide a lot of customized trips to destinations that no other company serves. For me, this is great, since I can offer our services on my favorite mountains, without compromising my motivation to go out there. After 20 years of climbing in many different mountain ranges around the world, and given my culinary background, I must say that one of my most joyful destinations is the Dolomites. When I was given the opportunity to put together a climbing trip to Europe, I had no doubts that this World Heritage site would make everybody happy!

Mont Blanc and Matterhorn in Seven Days

Madness guide Alan Rousseau brings us on his clients' conquest of Mont Blanc and Matterhorn in just seven days.

This winter was a stark contrast from the massive snowfalls that defined the 2015-2016 winter for the Alps. Last summer before my first Mont Blanc & Matterhorn trip of the season, I was hoping for warm and dry weather. This year, I was hoping for cold wet weather! When I arrived in Chamonix a couple weeks ago, there was an intense heat wave, and few people were venturing up the normal route on Mont Blanc due to rockfall. Large rockfall events were being reported on the Matterhorn as well.

Ken's High Five - Part Three, Glacier Peak

Glacier Peak, our objective this trip, is the most remote of Washington’s volcanoes. It is a place of beauty, solitude, and perfect kite flying weather. For us, the trip up Glacier Peak was also a chance to raise money for a worthy cause, and the opportunity for one member of our team to finally complete his goal, started in the 1980s, to climb all of the northwest volcanoes.

Ken's High Five - Part Two, Eldorado Peak

With beautiful weather conditions, great company, and a hefty amount of training in preparation, our three-day ascent of Eldorado Peak was one for the books. Eldorado Peak is in North Cascades National Park, surrounded by peak after iconic peak.

This rugged climb includes one of the most strenuous approach days in the cascades. A tree trunk river crossing, a steep, direct, climber’s trail, and boulder field scramble make this a classic Cascade climb.
