Everest Updates 5/5/2017

Expedition member Christopher Hill shares the following update from Everest:

We’ve safely returned from a successful second rotation. Our acclimatization is going extremely well and we made the initial push from Base Camp to Camp II in about eight and a half hours. The second half, which is a long slog across the valley, is challenging despite the motivation of seeing Lhotse face in the far distance at the end of the valley (left photo). Once at Camp II, we prepared for our first climb up the Lhotse face to Camp III at 23,000 feet to further acclimatize. The whole face is fairly imposing and connects Everest with Lhotse (top right). As we got closer we could see the initial lip of the face that we would be climbing (lower right photo).
