Everest Updates 4/24/2017

All good news so far from the Everest team! On Friday the 21st, they successfully reached Camp II in only 4.5 hours with an elevation gain of 1425 feet. Our camp is toward the top at 21,300 feet/6500meters, and looking toward the Lhotse Face.

The icefall is a longer path than in previous years, making a huge zigzag as it travels next to Nuptse then across toward the West Shoulder. There are two three-ladder sections to gain vertical ice towers.

The trail to Camp II is also indirect this year, with a lot of back and forth across four to six ladders, some of which are doubles.

The team is now back at Base Camp to rest and recover for the next five or six days, before they go back for more!
