Ethical Travel in Nepal with Mountain Madness

MOUNTAIN MADNESS has a long history of reaching out to help local communities in the places we visit. Today, we continue the vision of Scott Fischer and Christine Boskoff by collaborating with a variety of relief agencies, conservation groups, and non-profits. We believe in the power to make a difference!

Part of the reason to travel with Mountain Madness in Nepal is that we are socially and environmentally responsible. We pay fair wages to porters and staff, we abide by recommended standards for environmental conservation, and we work hard to ensure ethical travel without compromising comfort or quality.

Our efforts in Nepal extend beyond treks and expeditions to support locally-driven projects that are improving people’s lives. Mountain Madness contributes to Changing Lives Nepal, a non-profit founded in 2008 by Mountain Madness guide and former Peace Corps Volunteer Deana Zabaldo. We were excited to receive this card (below) from Deana this year celebrating the generosity of past MM clients. This past year, our clients helped us raise $3,000 to support a Nepali girl, Maya, and her education.

Changing Lives Nepal (CLN) has created a family-style home to provide food, clothing, education, and love for abandoned and orphaned children. CLN also creates organic agriculture programs that enable local farmers to become economically independent and self-reliant. They have planted almost 1 million tea bushes, built a factory jointly owned by 155 farmer families, and are expanding into organic almonds.
