Mera Peak Summit Photos

Here are some images from our sum­mit climb. Since the Mera Peaks are the first big glaciat­ed peaks ris­ing above the foothills they stand as a fan­tas­tic van­tage to the Khum­bu and the sur­round­ing ranges. The scale of the Himalaya is always stag­ger­ing, but from here it’s sim­ply amaz­ing on this expe­di­tion!

From the sum­mit we had ​‘back­side” views of such famous peaks as Ama Dablam, along with five of the four­teen 8,000-meter peaks. Out­side of the Karako­ram, there is prob­a­bly not a bet­ter view of the world’s high­est peaks and it’s a tech­ni­cal­ly easy climb too. Moun­tain Mad­ness will be adding guid­ed climbs on Mera to the sched­ule in 2011- I hope you can join us!

I also want­ed to give a spe­cial thanks to our part­ner Helly Hansen, who pro­vid­ed some great gear for the stormy start of the trip and kept the team warm and dry. Our team was all from the great Pacif­ic North­west and is used to rain, but I was so hap­py to have some raingear that actu­al­ly worked! We were also able to pro­vide some cloth­ing for our staff as well, which was great­ly appre­ci­at­ed. Thanks HH!
