Mera Peak Summit Photos

Here are some images from our summit climb. Since the Mera Peaks are the first big glaciated peaks rising above the foothills they stand as a fantastic vantage to the Khumbu and the surrounding ranges. The scale of the Himalaya is always staggering, but from here it's simply amazing!

From the summit we had 'backside" views of such famous peaks as Ama Dablam, along with five of the fourteen 8,000-meter peaks. Outside of the Karakoram, there is probably not a better view of the world's highest peaks and it's a technically easy climb too. Mountain Madness will be adding guided climbs on Mera to the schedule in 2011- I hope you can join us!

I also wanted to give a special thanks to our partner Helly Hansen, who provided some great gear for the stormy start of the trip and kept the team warm and dry. Our team was all from the great Pacific Northwest and is used to rain, but I was so happy to have some raingear that actually worked! We were also able to provide some clothing for our staff as well, which was greatly appreciated. Thanks HH!
