Aconcagua Summit!

Lead guide Andrew Wexler just called from Aconcagua to report a successful summit, despite very challenging conditions.

The team knew weather would be moving in, making conditions difficult, but they anticipated today being the last opportunity to summit before things got even worse at altitude. They left high camp at 6:15 this morning, and Andrew reached the summit with clients Dave Creeden and David Krause. (Terry opted to remain at high camp because he wasn’t feeling well, and Andrea, who was forced to turn around due to high winds on the route, returned to camp with an additional guide who had joined the group.) The team struggled back from the summit through winds gusting to 50 mph and whiteout conditions, and returned to camp around 5:30 PM.

Andrew reports that everyone is happy to be back at high camp, and the group is focusing on getting hydrated and nourished before continuing the descent tomorrow.

Congratulations to the whole team!
