New AIARE Level 1 Course on Mount Rainier!

If you still haven’t signed up for an avalanche course, we’ve got the per­fect new offer­ing for you! Moun­tain Mad­ness is thrilled to announce that we’ve con­firmed our per­mits to run avalanche cours­es on Mount Rainier this winter.

The full AIARE-cer­ti­fied Avalanche Lev­el 1 Course is sched­uled for Feb­ru­ary 19 – 21. After class­room ses­sions in Ash­ford at the Nisqually Lodge, we’ll head out to the field for our hands-on snow stud­ies on the ter­rain above Par­adise: Maza­ma Ridge, Par­adise Glac­i­er, the Muir Snow­fields, and the sur­round­ing areas. With tons of tour­ing and ter­rain options, cozy lodg­ing in Ash­ford, and 3 full days of prac­tic­ing snow safe­ty skills, this is an ide­al class for any­body trav­el­ing in the backcountry.
