Vinson Expedition almost underway!

Our 2010 Vin­son Expe­di­tion, led by Willie Bene­gas, will soon be fly­ing to the con­ti­nent short­ly. For now, here’s the first dis­patch from Suzanne:

All group mem­bers made it to Pun­ta. Check.
Gear made it to Pun­ta as Enrique lost a bag. Check.
Gear Check. Check.

We are all in high spir­its and as a group feel com­fort­able togeth­er. Impress­ing how each one of us is enrich­ing oth­ers with their sto­ries, back­ground and expe­ri­ences already. I am par­tic­u­lar­ly inspired by the ¨kid¨ John who is a breath of fresh air to what our youth should aspire to be and accom­plish … what a role mod­el he can be! Shawn´s com­mit­ment to the dream moun­tain foun­da­tion and all the good he is hop­ing to achieve is hum­bling. Enrique is very com­fort­able with the whole expe­di­tion, very relaxed and it is sooth­ing to see that.

Willie, great to meet one of the ultra ath­letes of the out­door world. Full of ener­gy, orga­nized and to lis­ten to him is both enter­tain­ing and inspir­ing, that is if you don’t allow your­self to be intim­i­dat­ed by his unbe­liev­able strength and endurance. I love the team and look­ing for­ward for our Vin­son climb.

We may be fly­ing tonight and short­ly we are going for ALE for the offi­cial brief­ing. All bags are packed and we are on stand by.
