Mustagh Ata Expedition Underway

Casey Hen­ley called in with a few details from Chi­na last week­end. We have been wait­ing to post an exten­sive dis­patch from the team, but polit­i­cal ten­sions in Urumqi dis­rupt­ed inter­net access for much of the region and it could not be trans­mit­ted. Casey reports that our team is safe and sound, accli­ma­tiz­ing well and mak­ing progress. They enjoyed their city tour in Kash­gar and their time hik­ing at Kara Kul lake at 11,400′. Their plan was to do more acclima­ti­za­tion hikes and skills review enroute to base camp. They are now set­tled in to the base camp and will start mov­ing up the climb. We should have more reports called in from the satel­lite phone in the next week. For now, no news is good news.
